Early 1992 Inland Revenue contract work to prepare residential Council Tax Valuation Bandings in south Hampshire. |

Within the practice of Young & White I was senior residential (Partner) surveyor/Valuer. This called for Practice development expertise i.e. negotiation with mortgage Lenders regarding valuation panel membership and fee scales; co ordinating efforts and marketing to enter new markets, producing and updating Conditions of Engagement, dealing with staff negligence cases and annual employment reviews etc…. |

1990 to date has seen great growth in Litigation Reports required due to claims alleging professional negligence. My experience and highly active role within the profession has allowed me to specialise in this area (Expert Witness Reports). |
 |
My most recent cases have revolved around (1) tenants failure to maintain and, in employing a mode of occupation of a flat that caused large amounts of condensation, to the detriment of the occupant and the structure; (2) surveyors failure to identify large amounts of hazardous asbestos in the property being surveyed; (3) misrepresentation upon disposal of a home by an owner (commercial use in a residential house adjoining caused loss of value) {three day court hearing with cross examination for close to two days); (4) surveyor negligence on completing a Home Buyers Survey missed serious breaches of electrical and gas safety regulations, missed floor rot, wall dampness, defective plumbing and heating systems; (5) New home adjoining a converted property (flats) wherein builders introduced dry rot and did not connect wall and floor dampness barriers; (6) general cases of over-valuation in a falling market after the late-1980’s property boom; (7) Homebuyer Report and the effect of “fuzzy” report wording of defects (8) failure of Local Authority to effectively repair a Flat (9) Personal injury case with emphasis on valuation analysis of premises converted for disabled persons. |

In 2002 I have set up a subscription based internet Surveyor Training service/business. This is a precursor of the way Government registered HOME INSPECTORS will be assessed and trained to complete HOME CONDITION REPORTS. |
 |
Throughout 2002 to-date I have helped devised both (1) National Occupational Standards for Government licensed Home Inspectors and (2) the external test/examination that all such candidates will have to take. This has led to major professional services Consultancies with the two main Home Inspector Assessment Centres in England, RICS and SAVA. |
